On July 21, 2016, we were alerted that over a dozen domestic rabbits were dumped in a neighborhood in Bonita, California. We subsequently received reports of more domestic rabbits dumped in two additional locations nearby in Chula Vista. It appears that all of these rabbits were dumped around the same time by the same person.
A team of volunteers have been going out daily to attempt to rescue as many rabbits as possible. Some have already been taken to the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. Others are currently in foster care, waiting for spay/neuter and room with other shelters or rescue groups.
If you are interested in adopting one of these rabbits, contact the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility or email chulavistarabbitrescue@outlook.com for more information.
Below are pictures of some of the rabbits already rescued.
