Adoptable Small Animals 

Please:  before buying a small animal companion at your local pet shop, do two things:

1. THINK ADOPTION.   Small animal rescue groups all over CA are full of adoptable, friendly hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, etc. By adopting, you are actively taking a stand against pet overpopulation while also saving a life. 
    
2. RESEARCH the small animal companion that you or your child is interested in before making a purchase. Reputable rescue groups like Wee Companions can tell you about the animal's temperament, whether it will get along with children and, most importantly, how to properly care for your new companion.  

LBRR has many dwarf hamsters. Their temperaments vary (some are very friendly and others are "biters").  If you are interested in a hamster or guinea pig, contact us. If we don't have what you are looking for, we will refer you to an appropriate rescue group in your area (like Wee Companions) that will have the perfect small animal companion.
