Foster Rabbits Available for Adoption

Updated 6/23/09

The next scheduled adoption day is Sunday, July 5.

Please complete our Adoption Application Form if you are interested in adopting.
For questions, email hrs@sandiegorabbits.org.

Listed below are pictures and descriptions of adoptable rabbits currently in HRS Foster Care. All are spayed or neutered and litterbox trained. Please see our adoption guidelines to learn more about adopting from the House Rabbit Society.

This heart symbol denotes a 'special needs' bunny. These rabbits have health, behavioral, age or physical conditions that require a bit of adjustment on the part of their new home.  Please - open your heart to our special needs bunnies and help them live 'happily ever after.'

This symbol denotes bunnies who are "easy keepers."  These bunnies are good for families, easy to care for, and have shown no difficult habits while in foster care.

Not all HRS foster rabbits may be posted here, so let us know what you are looking for.
Thank you for choosing to adopt from HRS.  We will help you find just the right rabbit!

Casper is an adorable bunny boy. Casper is a very lovable boy who really enjoys his playtime and does lots of happy hops. He has beautiful, soft white Rex fur that you won't be able to resist petting! He has done well on “dates” with other bunnies, so he might be a good companion option for your spayed, single bunny. Casper was born on June 17, 2008 and is microchipped and neutered. He has been in foster care at an HRS foster home ever since his mother gave birth to him at a local shelter a few days after she was relinquished. To see baby photos of him and his siblings, please visit this website: http://fosterbabies.shutterfly.com/
Peanut and Jelly are looking for a new 'forever' family.  This pretty Holland lop pair is about 3 years old and have been bonded for a couple years. They are active, happy, and totally devoted to each other.  Peanut & Jelly need a new home because their family's situation changed beyond their control. So they felt that the best situation was to find them a new family to love.  Though they are quite friendly, neither rabbit cares much to be held but they do enjoy being pet.  They are not comfortable with dogs so they are looking for a bunny family that is not also a 'dog' family.  Peanut & Jelly would do well in an adult family or one with older children who are bunny savvy.

Note: Peanut had some tooth problems in the past so his incisors have been removed. He is doing fine except that he needs his food chopped so he can eat it.

Iris & Rose are adorable Rex girls, totally devoted to each other. These bunny girls are fun to watch as they snuggle with each other, play with their toys and run around their exercise pen. They have great appetites and often run to the front of the pen when you walk in the room, hoping for treats. They are a little shy about being petted and handled, but are very sweet girls and would be fine with gentle children. They were born in June 2008, and excellent with their litterbox. These beautiful Rex girls have been living at an HRS foster home since they were just a few days old. To see baby photos of Rose & Iris and their siblings, please visit this website: http://fosterbabies.shutterfly.com/
Muffin & Mr. Beasley are two darling youngsters hoping for a new home. These Silver Marten Dwarf bunnies are active, funny, and suitable to an experienced bunny home with older children.  Only 6 months old, they can be tricky to hold and are very delicate, so not suited to a home with small children who want to hold them a lot.  They have been altered and are in the process of perfecting their litterbox skills.  Both bunnies love to chew cardboard, climb onto boxes, and explore. They need a home that is comfortable with SUPER ACTIVE bunnies and will give them many hours of attention and play time, out of their pen, each day. Muffin and Beasley are used to the x-pen setup and will need this in their new home.
Heather is a darling Lion Head girl who is sweet and friendly.  Have you ever seen so much cuteness?! This pretty little girl came into the shelter as a little baby, and was taken into foster care where she would get extra attention.  She's now ready for her 'forever' home.  She's spayed, good with her litter box and easy to handle.  Heather enjoys playing, loves to be pet, and would do well in a family with gentle, kind children. She also would be a good companion for a gentle bunny boy. Heather has luxurious fur, a bit longer, with cute "tufts" on her head and cheeks. She's hoping for a wonderful 'forever' home.
Bugsy is a darling boy who needs an experienced and loving home.  This little Dutch dwarf boy is sweet and loves to get snuggles, but he's also a bit cage protective and can be a little stinker.  Let's just say he's "complicated."  He seems interested in girl bunnies so might make a good companion choice to your bunny girl or mellow bunny boy.  About 2 years old, Bugsy is neutered, great with his litterbox and loves to play with toys and groom his stuffy bunny.  We are hoping to find an adult home for him where he will not have to live in a cage but can have a more 'open' environment to come and go. Bugsy is not suited to a home with children under 10 years, and they (the kids) must be very bunny-experienced as he's been known to express his opinion by boxing and nipping. He's really best suited to a bunny-experienced adult home.

Cody is a little English Angora boy with a feisty attitude. This little cutie pie came into a local shelter a total mess!  His fur was so badly matted that we had to shave it all off. You can see here he looks like he got a "Lion Cut."  It is slowly growing out and we'll put up new photos as he starts looking better.  About 2 years old, Cody needs a very "angora experienced" family as he needs weekly grooming to keep his fur in shape. Unfortunately, he does not enjoy the grooming and can be a bit tricky to handle.  We don't recommend Cody for a home with small children unless they are well supervised. He is known to bite if you mess with his fur. He is otherwise a sweet little guy who just wants a loving home. He's active, funny and loves his run time.
** ADOPTION PENDING 6.15.09 **

Jack is gentle boy who loves to have his cheeks scratched.  This sweet young New Zealand boy came to us when he was relinquished to a local pet store by a person who had tried to feed him to a large snake.  He was emotionally traumatized and not able to transition to the shelter, so we took him into foster care.  He's doing much better now but is a little 'jumpy' if you get overly playful with him or you come around the corner and he's not expecting you.  Otherwise, he's sweet and happy and loves attention.  He's great with his litterbox, loves to play with his toys, and makes the most of his run time, zooming around and dancing up a storm.  With time, he'll get more confident too. Jack might make a good companion to a sweet bunny girl, and would do well in a quiet bunny home with older, quieter children or adults.

Bridget and Frost are a devoted pair of bunnies hoping for their 'forever' home.  These pretty bunnies were recently relinquished by their family because of chewing. Unfortunately, the family didn't keep them penned or provide for "supervised" run time, and they got into trouble.  This is a real issue for bunnies, where their home environment sets them up for failure.  Bunnies chew and dig.  That's a normal part of caring for rabbits. Otherwise, these two cuties are active, friendly, and love to romp around and play.  Bridget (the black/white girl) ADORES her Cottontail Cottage and hangs out in the middle level where she feels secure. These bunnies are great hay eaters, love their fresh veggies, and are good with their litterbox. They will make nice companions for a family with older children, or an adult home.  But, please BE SURE TO BUNNYPROOF and set a routine where the bunnies are housed securely when you cannot supervise their activities. Bridget & Frost would do best with an x-pen setting or a home where they can have their own "bunny room." They are a bit larger and need room to stretch out. Can you give Bridget & Frost their "forever" home?

Little Foxy is a fun bunny girl!  This silly Mini Rex girl is about 8 months old and a real doll!  Foxy LOVES attention and wants to be with you all the time.  When she's not begging for pets, she's running and dancing and getting quite silly - or she's eating.  She also LOVES her food!   Foxy would make a great family bunny and do well with older children (over 8) as well as gentle cats or dogs. An experienced bunny family may be best for her.  She also would love a roomy x-pen enclosure.

Note:  You may notice that Foxy has a heart next to her name.  Two hearts designate a "special needs" bunny.  Though she does not require special care, Foxy does have a situation where she has a small "seizure" when she gets overly excited.  It's only happened about 4 times in nearly 2 months. The seizures are not really bad and she recovers quickly.  We had Foxy tested for the EC parasite to see if this was the cause of the seizures but she is negative.  So we assume that it's some sort of epileptic seizure. For now, we're not treating her with any medication because the seizures are infrequent and she's healthy in every other way.  If you want to know more, please email adopt@sandiegorabbits.org.

Update: 2/28/09:  Foxy is currently on medical hold while she's treated for her seizures. They are still infrequent but we have decided to start her on medication.

Bunnyluv is a pretty little girl with gorgeous BLUE eyes! This pretty girl is friendly, loves attention and will sit on your lap. She enjoys playing in a Cottontail Cottage and enjoys toys. She would do well with an adult home or one with older, gentle children.  We've tried introducing her to bunny boys but she'd rather get all the attention as a single girl. She's great with her litterbox and enjoys her daily fresh veggies. Can you give Bunnyluv a loving home?

Little stinker alert!  Ginger Pickle is a lively little girl with a big attitude!  Here's another of our cutie pie dwarf girls who has a lot of attitude - "dwarfitude" as it's known among bunny people.  She's sweet, enjoys attention, but on her own terms.  Ginger is protective of her cage but does better in a more open environment. She would benefit from an x-pen or cube cage where you approach her from her level - on the floor or face height, rather than tower over her or come up from below.  She wants to look you in the eye with her "steely" gaze and put her spell on you! "... more carrots, please."  This cutie is a good with her litterbox and loves her hay, pellets and carrot.  She's still trying to figure out what greens she likes.  She's okay with kale, and enjoys some parsley, but everything else still gets a lot of scrutiny and is sometimes left behind.  Yuck - what is that stuff?!   Ginger Pickle is not a good choice for small children or even older kids without prior rabbit experience.  If you're an experienced "dwarf bunny" home, she may make a sweet companion for you.

Update, April 09:  Ginger has gotten much sweeter and is easier to handle.  We've introduced her to some bunny boys at adoption days and it's very clear - Ginger desperately wants a bunny boy to love. Do you have a bunny boy who might enjoy a spunky little girl?

Kiwi is a spunky and talkative girl. She’s active and a very fun bunny. Kiwi is excellent with her litterbox and loves her fresh greens.   Kiwi is not appropriate for a home with young children since she can be a little grumpy when you reach into her space. However, once she knows your intentions, she loves for you to pet her and will let you pet her for as long as you'd like! And you'll want to pet her lots with that super soft Rex fur she has.  She may be a good companion option for your neutered boy.  Kiwi was born on June 17, 2008 and has been living at an HRS foster home since she was just a few days old. To see baby photos of Kiwi and her siblings, please visit this website: http://fosterbabies.shutterfly.com/

Beautiful Bindy Seeks Loving, Permanent Home.  This lovely Standard Rex female is friendly, playful, and confident. She loves her toys and her run time, and enjoys playing games with her human friends.  Bindy is an active girl and needs plenty of toys and lots of run time - a minimum of 4 hours per day.  She is best suited to an adult home, or one with well-behaved older children (over 10 yrs) who have previous rabbit experience.  Bindy needs plenty of room, so must be housed in an x-pen environment as seen here: Pen Living.  This gives her room to play while keeping her safely contained when you aren't around to supervise her activities.   Bindy is about 2 1/2 years old, and prefers to be a single girl, getting all the attention.  She's great with her litterbox and loves her hay and fresh greens.  Can you give Bindy the loving and "permanent" home she so deserves? Contact HRS at hrs@sandiegorabbits.org to learn more.

Star is an active little guy, excited about getting a new home! This youngster is about 5 months old and ready for his new home. Star enjoys playing with toys, getting pets, and chewing on his cardboard tunnel.  He's a smaller guy - about four pounds - and doesn't look like he'll get very big.  He has very cute white markings on his face.  Star has lived with cats and gentle dogs, and would enjoy attention from a family with gentle, affectionate children. He doesn't care to be held but does love you to get down on the floor and pet him.

Here's Star on You Tube!

Wow - Look at those ears! This "flying bun" is Bumper! This fun and crazy guy is a young New Zealand boy who is hoping for a fun, new family and home.  He's going to be a big boy - probably 9 or 10 lbs - of big, bunny love! Bumper is about 5 months old and was rescued from a vet school where he was used for "animal handling" training. Then he and 3 others were going to be euthanized.  A concerned student rescued the four bunnies and found spots for them in local shelters and rescue groups.  We're very glad to have taken in Bumper. He's very friendly, active and sweet, and will make a great family companion. He has been neutered, is using a litterbox, and loves to play! He enjoys petting and plenty of attention, though he's very wiggly and a bit hard to hold. He also should do well with friendly cats or dogs.  Can you give a fun home to Bumper?

Molly & Sammy are a darling bunny pair, who need a special home with gentle care.  Both of these bunnies came into HRS with physical problems.  Sammy had a badly broken leg (it still has pins) and Molly's back had a slight fracture that was causing her discomfort.  After cage rest and careful treatment, both are doing very well and are quite active again.  Sammy's leg still contains one or two pins, which will need to be removed at some point in the future.

Because of their small size and delicate situations, these bunnies will be placed only in a rabbit-experienced home with adults or a family with older children who will refrain from picking them up.  If they are dropped, or they kick and fall, they likely will sustain permanent injury.  They need to be carefully handled and allowed to come and go on their own from their cage or pen.

Their adoptive home needs to be capable of providing future medical care and come with a vet reference showing a good history of care for their pets.  We want to ensure the rabbits will receive proper medical attention when needed, and that the family won't be financially impaired by the cost of care required.

If you think your home is a good match for Molly & Sammy, please contact us at hrs@sandiegorabbits.org.

Zena is a fearless warrior princess, hoping for a new home. At a very young age, Zena was found on top of her cage (we don’t know where she hid her cape). She is petite but strong, with a shiny black coat. She resembles her mom, Tinker Bell. A playful girl, Zena will play tug-tug, on the spoon used to pour flax seeds on her pellets, until she gets it out of the hand of her foster mom and onto the floor of her pen. Zena is social and friendly and might like the companionship of a sweet bunny boy. She will do well with a family who has children who are gentle and well-behaved around small animals.
Pretty girl, Marshmallow, is hoping for a wonderful new home! This pretty little girl has the most gorgeous blue eyes!  She is sweet and loves attention but hates to be held.  Marshmallow came to HRS with a slight "head tilt." It was probably from an ear infection, and it cleared up but she still has a very slight tilt remaining. It gives her a "quizzical" look and she runs in circles when she gets excited.  Marshmallow is super active, friendly, and loves her fresh veggies and hay.  She's good with her litterbox but sometimes will spread a bit of hay around.  She's a 'busy' girl who likes things to do.  We think she will do great with a family who treats her gently and gives her a lot of attention. She also needs an x-pen house or a cage that rests on the ground so she can come and go on her own.  She is not comfortable jumping up and down from things as she loses her balance a bit.  Marshmallow is about 14 months old and 5lbs.  A darling, pretty girl.

Barbie needs a special home where she will be loved.  Barbie came into a local shelter with a broken leg and horrible case of ear mites. She also had damage that appears to be from another rabbit, so her ears are a bit 'rough' around the edges.  HRS had her evaluated and a vet and she was found to be otherwise healthy so her leg was pinned and ears treated.  Barbie is a shy but sweet girl who needs a home and family who loves to care for 'special needs' animals.  She's fairly easy to care for; she just needs a soft place to live on to prevent rough surfaces injuring her skin.  She can put her leg underneath her (rather than out to the side as shown in this photo) but she's a bit wobbly on the 'hop.'  We feel she will get better with time.  Barbie needs an adult home or one with older, rabbit experienced children. She needs a roomy x-pen home with soft flooring.  Barbie will thrive in a home where she gets plenty of gentle attention. She might also be a good companion to your sweet bunny boy. Are you the "special" home that Barbie needs?

Check out Barbie on You Tube!

Daisy and Eddie are looking forward to adopting a wonderful new family. Could that be you?   These two cuties are a pair of  smaller white bunnies (approx 5lbs) a bit over 1 year old. Both bunnies are litter box trained and socialized to live as pampered indoors companions. They enjoy an x-pen and Cottontail Cottage in their foster home and will need that in their new adoptive home.  Daisy is still a bit shy but is very active and mischievous, and a great dancer! Eddie is a real lover and really enjoys being pet and held.  Together, they are a sweet pair who enjoy playing together and snuggling. These two pretty buns are looking forward to finding a wonderful new family and their "forever" home.

Check out Daisy & Eddie on You Tube!

Nathan & Suzie need a "forever" home!  These sweet bunnies were adopted to a new home a few months ago.  The family is a very nice one and they loved Nathan & Suzie very much.  Sadly, and very unexpectedly, some of the family members began to have allergic reactions to the bunnies and their hay.  The family made many adjustments to their living arrangements but could not overcome the problem.  Wisely, they knew that putting the bunnies to live outdoors was not the answer.  Outdoors is not safe for rabbits in San Diego County; too many predators, parasites and warm weather. So they returned Nathan & Suzie to HRS so they could find a new family.  Both bunnies are good with their litterbox, love fresh veggies and hay, and really enjoy the company of a family.  Nathan is a special needs bunny, in that he has only three legs.  He is missing his back left leg.  The only special accommodation he needs is carpet in his living and play area.  He cannot get good "traction" on a slippery floor.  If you think you can give these sweet bunnies a 'forever' new home, please contact us to inquire more about Nathan & Suzie.

Note: Nathan is afraid of dogs so he and Suzie are best suited to a home without a dog.

Skyler is a handsome little guy who needs an experienced bunny home.  This little bun boy is a smaller Florida White bunny, about 1 year old. He came from a shelter where he was too feisty in the cage and would give volunteers and staff and hard time.  Now in foster care, Skyler is being housed in an x-pen setup where he is beginning to relax and not be so "protective" of his space.  He will kick out his legs to relax, and enjoys some petting. He loves hay and fresh veggies and running around his pen. His foster mom is working with him to help him trust again. Because he is a little more difficult to handle, Skyler is not a good choice for a home with smaller children or older children who do not have prior rabbit experience.  He would do best in a rabbit-experienced adult home, and might also be a good companion choice for a gentle bunny girl.  We are certain that Skyler will settle down to become a nice bunny boy who will become the love of someone's life.  It just takes time, a gentle touch, and loving patience.  If you're an experienced bunny home who enjoys the challenging bunny personality, Skyler would benefit from your love. Did we mention that he's perfect with his litterbox?

See Skyler on You Tube!

Pretty girl, Alexi, needs a bunny-experienced home that enjoys her active nature.  This pretty Dutch girl is approx. 1 year old, active and sweet. She does not do well in a cage, so will require an x-pen setting in her new home.  Alexi can be protective of her space but once she knows that you will be gentle and give her some pets (and a papaya treat!) she is willing to let you in her area. She will be fine with an experienced bunny home but might be too confident for children under 12 yrs. Alexi loves her run time and playing with toys, and she's also very good with her litterbox.  Alexi would likely do well with cats and gentle dogs.

Little Cece needs a 'dwarf experienced' bunny home where she can be the "Princess in Charge." Little Cece is dwarf bunny girl, about 3 1/2 to 4 lbs. At about 3 years old, she is a healthy girl with a lot of personality!  Like most dwarf bunny girls, Cece has more than her share of 'attitude.' If you've had a dwarf bunny girl in the past, you'll know what we're talking about.  She's a bit protective of her cage and will grunt or 'box' at you if you mess with her things. This is pretty typical bunny behavior, but easy to work around.  Cece would do best in an x-pen setting or a nice larger cage that sits on the floor where she can come and go on her own.  She is not crazy about being picked up and is not appropriate for a home with children.  She was in a home with a small child before coming to HRS and did not do well at all. She's also not comfortable with dogs but should be fine around cats. Cece is great with her litterbox, loves her fresh salads, and enjoys run time where she can run, play and dance with joy! She also enjoys being pet and getting gentle cheek rubs. If you're an adult family with bunny experience, Cece might be a good fit for you !

Visit Cece on You Tube!

Blossom and Berry are two bonded female bunnies who were on the "red list" in a Los Angeles shelter. This means they were set to be euthanized if not rescued before a certain date.  These girls are adorable together and really depend on each other for companionship.  Blossom, on the left, is a standard/Dutch mix with Harlequin coloring, while Berry is a Dutch/Dwarf mix.   Blossom has beautiful light blue eyes, and Berry's eyes are "half and half" - half brown and half blue.  Very unusual!  Both girls are getting used to their new foster home environment. They are pretty good with their litterbox and learning to enjoy fresh veggies and lots of good grass hay.  They would do well  in a home that has bunny experience, and are probably fine with kitties or gentle dogs.  We will update their description as we learn more about these two pretty girls.

Visit Blossom & Berry on You Tube!

Lovely Rex girl, Katia, is hoping for a special new home.  This pretty girl is about 4 to 5 years old, and very gentle and sweet.  She came into a local shelter as part of a large relinquishment of Rex rabbits from a breeder.  Katia got a slight head tilt, which has not fully recovered.  Her right eye also is a bit "squinty" from having been on the 'down' side. You can see that she has a slight "quizzical" look.  It just makes her more endearing.  The vet believes the tilt came from a common rabbit parasite, E Cuniculi, and she has been treated for that with medication.  The medicine is finished and she is now hoping to find a new home with an experienced bunny family.   Katia has been spayed, is litter box trained, and ready for her new home.  As you can see, she is social, friendly, and likes to interact with people.

Update 6/1/08:  Katia's head tilt has resolved and she can see better out of her 'squinty' eye.  It's so great to see this improvement in her.

Check out Katia on You Tube!

Natasha is a confident youngster, looking forward to meeting her new family.  This pretty girl is about 8 months old and lived in a large family grouping. She's pretty confident and was one of the more dominant of the bunny kids.  Natasha may do well on her own with lots of attention, or might enjoy a male bunny companion who is happy to let her be the boss.  Natasha is playful, loves to be pet, but does not like being held. She'd rather play with you on the floor.  She would do well with adults or a family with older, well-behaved children.

Here's Natasha on You Tube!

South Paw is a beautiful boy ready for your love. Named for his white left foot, this little guy is fearless. He loves to climb up the side of his x-pen and peek over to see what’s going on, so it needs to be covered when you’re not around to keep an eye on him.  South Paw loves petting but is not crazy about being held. He is an explorer and climbs on everything; the couch, chairs, etc.  He also stands on his hind legs a lot, like a Prairie Dog, to look around.  And, he likes to climb on you to check you out and get your attention. He’s a handsome little guy who is a lot of fun.  He would thrive in an active home where he gets a lot of attention.

Pinky and Blueberry are excited about finding their new home! These two Silver Marten Dwarf bunnies are brother and sister to Muffin & Beasley.  Like them they are active, funny, and suitable to an experienced bunny home with older children. Pinky and Blueberry are used to the x-pen setup and will need this in their new home.

Gracie is a beautiful young Rex girl who wants to be the center of attention.  This lovely girl is about 10 months old and looking for her new home.  She was previously bonded with her sister but the girls stopped getting along so we've separated them.  Gracie is confident and strong, and would do well on her own (with a lot of attention from her humans) or as a companion to a gentle bunny boy.  Gracie is good with her litterbox, loves her hay and enjoys playing.  She is too confident for very young children, but would do well with older children and a bunny-experienced family.
** ADOPTED 6.13.09 ** See my Happy Adoption photo!

Freddie is a cutie pie!  This little Dutch mix boy started out life in a pretty tough situation.  He was attacked by an animal and most of his back skin & fur ripped off.  He was one big open wound.  That's where HRS stepped in to give Freddie the TLC and special nursing care he needed.  Over time his wounds healed and he grew into a sweet and friendly boy.  Now about 5 months old, Freddie is good with his litterbox, loves his yummy hay and fresh veggies, and really enjoys running and playing. He is very active and would do best in a home where he's gets a lot of attention, a roomy housing setup, and lots of exercise and interaction with his new family.
** ADOPTION PENDING 6.10.09 **

Handsome guy, Barnaby, is looking for a family to love!  This friendly bunny boy is super cute and loves attention! Barnaby is a standard Rex boy about 3 years old. He loves people and will beg for attention each time you pass his pen.  He's easy to handle and enjoys play time, toys, and lots of pets!  He as previously adopted to be a companion to another bunny boy but after a year it still had not worked out and they were fighting.  So his family decided to help him find a home that was better suited to him.  He would probably enjoy being the only bun for awhile, so he can get all the attention! Barnaby is good with his litterbox, enjoys his fresh salads, and yummy hay.  He would be great with a family or an adult home. He lives in an x-pen setting in his foster home, and would need that with his new family so he has plenty of room to stretch out.
** ADOPTED 6.7.09 **

Bravo is the SWEETEST bunny boy! Okay, you can't top this guy for sweetness.  Bravo is a darling NZW boy who was found by the side of the road, probably hit by a car.  Some good Samaritans brought him into the shelter so he could get treatment.  His right leg was badly broken and had to be amputated.  This has not slowed him down, or bothered him at all.  Bravo gets around well, is curious and active, and LOVES attention.  He's just a doll... About a year old, Bravo has been neutered and is good with his litter box. He lives in an x-pen with a soft carpet flooring and enjoys toys and his stuffed bunny friend.  Bravo would be an excellent choice for a family with children or gentle pets.

Note:  We've marked Bravo with two hearts because he's a tripod bunny and needs a soft rug in his living and run area, so he won't slip.  On the other hand, we've marked him with a sunflower because he's so easy to care for!
** ADOPTED 6.7.09 **

Lyle is a darling boy who will dance his way into your heart!  This little guy is about 5 months old and a real treat! Lyle is playful, fun, loves attention and is easy to handle.  He would be a great choice for a family with kids or anyone who can give him a LOT of attention.  He is a mischievous boy, however, so he'll need a nice "x-pen" house and plenty of toys to play with and chew.  Lyle was rescued by a kind forest ranger who found him dumped in the wilderness. She took him in and got him vet care, then turned him in so he could be adopted into a new home.  Lyle "might" be okay as a companion bunny, but there's a chance he's still a bit too young and might just be silly and not pay attention long enough to satisfy a new girlfriend.  He has been neutered and is good with his litterbox.
** ADOPTED 6.5.09 ** See my Happy Adoption photo!

Bambi is a sweet bunny girl who just wants to be loved.  This pretty girl is about 10 months old and would love to have a gentle boy companion.  She used to live with her sister, Gracie, but they stopped getting along. Gracie was too dominant towards her and it was hard on Bambi. Gentle, shy and easy to handle, Bambi would do best in a home that is experienced with bunnies or at least has had good experience with different animal types.  Smaller children make her nervous so she's best suited to a home with kids over 8 years old. She might make a wonderful companion to your sweet bunny boy.

LOVE RABBITS?  WANT TO HELP THEM FIND NEW HOMES?

San Diego HRS works with local shelters and humane societies to help them find homes for their adoptable rabbits.  We need more volunteers who can help in shelters; even a few hours a week makes a great difference fo the rabbits.  Weekday volunteers are our greatest need at this time, with the Central and South "county" shelters having the greatest need.  You must be at least 18 years old and go through the shelter's orientation program to begin volunteering. The bunnies will thank you!

We have many other types of Volunteer Opportunities which can be seen on our HRS Website.
