We HIGHLY recommend that you house your new rabbit indoors. Rabbits are prey animals and San Diego County is home to many predator animals such as hawks, owls, coyotes, raccoons, foxes and bob cats, all of which kill small animals left outside (even rabbits kept in a cage or hutch). Wet or hot weather and parasites such as fleas, flies, and mosquitoes also can be deadly to rabbits. You can easily house your rabbit indoors and make him a part of your family.  He will live a much longer and healthier life, and you will enjoy him so much more. Learn more about housing your bunny indoors.

Please contact Sylvia at lagomorph_lady@yahoo.com for more information
about the rabbits on this page (unless otherwise noted).

Updated 02/08/09

Davis, ID no. 35200 *** Neutered male Lop mix, will be medium to large size, white with blue eyes, about  5-6 months old.
Davis is a mellow, friendly rabbit. He's just gorgeous with his baby blues and super-soft fur. He has "flexible" ears that go every which way depending on his mood. Maybe he'll decide to be a Lop as he matures!

Dee Dee, ID no. 35197 *** Spayed female Standard mix, will be medium size, brown agouti, about  6 months old.
Dee Dee is a cute young girl and really much prettier than the photo shows. She didn't quite know what to make of the camera so put on her best disapproving rabbit face just in case! Dee Dee is dreaming of a loving home where she can explore the house and be loved by her family.

Morgan, ID no. 31249 *** Spayed female Florida White mix, medium size, white, about 1 year old.
Morgan seems like a sweet, even-tempered girl. She seems to take things in stride and would probably be a great beginner bunny, or a nice companion for a family with gentle children.

Olly, ID no. 31398 *** Spayed female Dutch mix, medium size, brown and white, about 1 year old.
In case you are wondering, Olly really is a girl but when she first arrived at the shelter someone thought she was a male so she ended up with a boy's name. Since arriving at the shelter, Olly has put on weight and is starting to let her guard down. She's still a bit timid but I can tell she wants to come out of her shell. This little girl would very much like a nice quiet home to relax with someone to love her.

Dakota, ID no. 35199 *** Neutered male Standard mix, will be medium size, agouti (brown) with blue eyes, about  6 months old.
Dakota is just the cutest little guy! He's friendly and nosey, and enjoys interacting with visitors at the shelter. He would love a home where he can get lots of love and playtime every day!

Dasha (left), ID no. 35191 *** Spayed female Standard/Rex mix, will be medium to large size, white with pink eyes, about 4-5 months old.
Darla (right), ID no. 35190 *** Spayed female Lop mix, will be medium to large size, white with blue eyes, about 4-5 months old.
Dasha and Darla are just the cutest little girls! They are sharing a cage but can be adopted separately. They are friendly and nosey, and love to snuggle with each other. They also groom each other and are just the most adorable little pair. For twice the joy and twice the laughs, consider adopting both girls together.
Raygen, ID no. 35420 *** Spayed female Standard mix, medium size, white with greyish brown markings, about 1 year old.
Raygen is new to the shelter. She seems a little timid but will probably come out of her shell soon. What a gorgeous girl! Check back soon for an update, or come visit her at the shelter.

Stacie, ID no. 32967 *** Spayed female Californian mix, will be medium to large size, white with grey points, about 8 months old.
Stacie really stands out from the crowd. She enjoys being pet and is oh-so-gentle and sweet. I've loved this girl since she first arrived at NCHS and it seems that she's just getting mellower and friendlier by the day. Stacie seems like a good bunny for just about anyone, including a first-time rabbit owner or perhaps a family with gentle children. Stacie is a gem!

Ricky, ID no. 35422 *** Neutered male Standard mix, medium size, brown agouti, about 1 year old.
Ricky is new to the shelter. I think he's just a big love bug, he seems mellow and easygoing. He has a big round head and just the cutest face. Check back soon for an update, or come visit Ricky at the shelter.

Cody, ID no. 35193 *** Neutered male Rex mix, will be medium size, white with pink eyes, about 5 months old as of February 2009.
Cody is full of beans as all young bunnies are. He's friendly and nosey. He came into the shelter as a wee little baby and is growing up into a handsome guy.

Ryan, ID no. 34324 *** Neutered male Standard mix, large size, white with brown agouti markings, about 10 months old.
Ryan is an easygoing fellow who seems like he'd fit in with just about any family. He's love to live indoors with the family. He enjoys being pet and is fairly even-tempered.
Daniella, ID no. 35192 *** Spayed female Standard mix, will be medium size, brown agouti, about  6 months old.
Davina is a gorgeous brown agouti girl with "flexible" ears (she may have some Lop ancestors). She's hoping to be adopted into a loving indoor home where she can be part of the family and get playtime and pets every day. She's a friendly, curious little girl.

Devin, ID no. 35195 *** Neutered male Rex mix, will be medium size, white with blue eyes, about 5 months old as of February 2009.
Cody is full of beans as all young bunnies are. He's friendly and nosey. He came into the shelter as a wee little baby and is growing up into a handsome guy.
Rebecca, ID no. 35419 *** Spayed female Standard mix, will be medium size, white with agouti brown markings, about 6-8 months old as of January 2009.
Rebecca is new to the shelter. She's not really sure what to make of the noisy shelter environment, and is a bit defensive right now. Judging from the old healed wounds on her ears she's probably used to having to fight for herself. I think in a home she'd settle down nicely. Check back soon for an update, or come visit her at the shelter.

Abigale, ID no. 35931 *** Spayed female Florida White mix, small to medium size, white, about 9 months old as of January 2009.
SWEETIE PIE ALERT! Abigale is a loveable, friendly little girl looking for a great indoor home. She's extremely mellow for a smaller rabbit, and will just melt into a big puddle of bunny happiness when you pet her. The photo shows what she does when you take your hand off: she just stays "flat" and asks for more lovins! Come visit her and see for yourself.

Mindy, ID no. 36398 *** Spayed female Dwarf mix, medium size, white with brown spots, about 1 year old
Mindy is brand-new to the shelter. She's still a bit unsure of her new surroundings but I think she'll relax soon. She's a real cutie! Check back soon for an update and photo of Mindy.

Recent Adoptions

The following rabbits recently went to new loving homes. Congratulations!

Sprinkles, ID no. 34343 *** Neutered male Standard mix, medium size, calico, about 8-10 months old.
Sprinkles is a real charmer, and as you can see in the photo on the right he's ready to get out of the shelter anytime! He's active and friendly, loves to be pet and enjoys his exercise time. Sprinkles has pretty dark blue eyes. He's still young and should fill out a little more. He's a neat bunny and I think he would enjoy having gentle children to play with.
***ADOPTED 02.15.09****
Spotty, ID no. 36362 *** Neutered male Dwarf mix, medium size, calico, about 9 months old
Spotty is brand-new to the shelter. He was found stray and is still a bit overwhelmed by his new surroundings, but he's really a sweet little guy. He responds very well to gentle attention. In case you can't tell from the photo, Spotty is cute as a button!
***ADOPTED 02.15.09****
Frankie, ID no. 28981 *** Neutered male Dwarf/Standard mix, will be medium size, black with a hint of white on his nose, about 6-8 months old.
Frankie is a real cutie, with a fun personality. He's outgoing and active. I think he'd be fine with gentle children under their parent's supervision. He's a real charmer. Frankie is Jimmy's brother but they are looking to be adopted separately.
***ADOPTED 02.08.09***
Darcey, ID no. 35194 *** Neutered male Rex mix, will be medium size, brown, about 4 months old as of January 2009.
Darcey and his brothers, Cody and Devin, are full of beans as all young bunnies are. They are sharing a cage but can be adopted separately. They are friendly and nosey, and love to snuggle with each other. So, if you are looking for an adorable trio check out these three! Or you can adopt one or two of them.
***ADOPTED 02.08.09***

Jones, ID no. 35019 *** Neutered male Standard mix, medium to large size, harlequin, about 4-5 years old.
Jones is a real gentleman and such a sweetie. He is a bit skinny and doesn't look like he's had good care so far, but he's eating well and will put on a little weight in no time! Jones is a wonderful sweetheart and loves to be pet. He'd be a great first bunny for someone who just wants a gentle soul to hang out with. Every once in a while I meet a bunny that truly stands out from the crowd, and Jones is one of them. Even staff at the vet clinic where he was neutered commented about how nice and easygoing he is. By the way, you can't see it but Jones has a cute white nose!
***ADOPTED 02.08.09***

Davina, ID no. 35196 *** Spayed female Standard mix, will be medium size, fawn, about  6 months old.
Davina is a gorgeous tan girl with "flexible" ears (she may have some Lop ancestors). She appears a bit shell-shocked right now but is coming around. She is sharing a cage with Daniella (shown below) and they could be adopted together or separately. Davina is looking for a loving indoor home where she can be part of the family and get playtime and pets every day.
