It is HIGHLY recommended that you house your new rabbit indoors. Rabbits are prey animals and San Diego County is home to many predator animals such as hawks, owls, coyotes, raccoons, foxes and bob cats, all of which kill small animals left outside (even rabbits kept in a cage or hutch). Wet or hot weather and parasites such as fleas, flies, and mosquitoes also can be deadly to rabbits. You can easily house your rabbit indoors and make him a part of your family. He will live a much longer and healthier life, and you will enjoy him so much more. Learn more about housing your bunny indoors. Indoor Bunny Housing

Ginger (ID no. 25772) is a pretty (and pretty opinionated) Netherland Dwarf female. Like most Dwarf rabbits Ginger is sassy and spunky and she WILL nip or box if things don't go according to her ideas. She's nosey and social, but she isn't the cuddly type. She's not suitable for a family with children but in an adult, rabbit-savvy home she'll provide lots of entertainment and plenty of smiles. Little Ginger is spayed and ready to be adopted.

Kiwi (ID no. 20683) is a young New Zealand White female, probably around a year old. Like most New Zealands she's friendly, curious, and probably a great choice for a family with gentle older children. She can be a bit opinionated but it just makes her all the more charming. When you pet her she'll flatten for you to soak up the attention. Kiwi is spayed and ready to be adopted.

Zipper (ID no. 24930) and Buttons (ID no. 24931) are a young pair of New Zealand White siblings. Buttons is the girl and Zipper the boy; they are spayed and neutered. These guys are super adorable and full of beans as most young rabbits are (they are about 6-8 months old). They are very inquisitive and will climb all over each other trying to get the best view of what's going on outside their cage. They are darling rabbits and will make fun companions for some lucky person or family. Buttons & Zipper would probably do well with gentle children.

Teddy (ID no. 25773) is a gorgeous chocolate brown Dutch rabbit. He appears to be friendly and social and would probably make a good companion for a first-time rabbit person. Gentle, older children should be fine. Teddy is medium-sized and has been neutered.

Sassy (ID no. 25147) is a spayed female, about medium sized. She's pretty spunky and looking forward to a home where she can get out of her cage regularly for playtime and pets. She's pretty chubby right now but a good diet of hay and vegetables will help her slim down.

Sprout (ID no. 23065) is a beautiful, gentle Californian mix female. She has been spayed and is ready to be adopted. This girl is special... she's really sweet and much prettier than her picture would have you believe! Sprout would do well with gentle children.

Vaughn (ID no. 21754) is a handsome and charming fellow. No, he's not a wild bunny -- quite the opposite! Vaughn is very outgoing and would be a great bunny for a family with gentle children. His beautiful coloring is called "agouti" which means each individual hair is brown, black, and white "striped," making for the look we know from wild bunnies. Vaughn is neutered and ready to be adopted anytime. He wouldn't mind a new name either!

Don't let his photo fool you... Luka (ID no. 22630) is quite handsome and quite the charmer! He's about a year old (as of April 2008). Luka's nose appears to have been hurt in a fight with another bunny... it is not uncommon for neutered males to fight badly and sometimes a bunny nose bears the brunt. However, this injury is healed and Luka has been neutered so his "funny looks" are all that's left of his past. Will you be his future?

Charlie (ID no. 25035) is a super adorable guy. He appears to be young, perhaps 8 months to a year old. He's very social and loves attention. We think he'd do well with gentle children. As you can see he also has quite unusual markings. Charlie is neutered.
Charlie is currently in a foster home. He'll be back at the shelter soon. Please contact lagomorph_lady@yahoo.com if you'd like to meet him.
