Nathan and Suzie were adopted by the Bryson family and have a wonderful new home! Julianne contacted HRS when thinking of adopting a rabbit companion for her family. She visited some adoption websites and studied the rabbit care information from San Diego HRS. After deciding a rabbit might be a good choice for her family, she arranged to meet Nathan at a recent adoption day. Nathan loved Julianne and her boys, Makoa and Koji. He enjoyed their attention and the wonderful petting! But, Julianne is a big believer in animals having a friend of their own kind, and we agree! So Nathan went back to his foster home to be bonded to a bunny girl. He met little Suzie and they really liked each other. They were bonded in a few days and ready for their new home. Many thanks to the Bryson family for adopting from HRS and giving our sweet foster bunnies, Nathan & Suzie a wonderful new home. We know the bunnies are going to be very happy with their new family and all the attention they will receive.

Little Jake found a wonderful new bunny mom and home with Brooke, after she contacted HRS to find a new bunny friend. Brooke had been thinking of adopting a rabbit and mentioned it to one of her co-workers, HRS volunteer John Koivula, who was more than happy to share information about caring for house rabbits. She studied the materials John gave her and spent time on the Internet finding out more. After visiting the HRS adoption website, Brooke saw Jake and felt he might be a good match for her. After talking with Brooke we agreed! So an introduction was arranged and it was a match! Congratulations to little Jake on finding a wonderful new home and many thanks to Brooke for adopting from HRS. We wish you many happy years together!

Little Bettina found her perfect "bunny slave" when she met Tia at our most recent adoption day. Tia did a lot of research in advance and knew she wanted a bunny with a little more "attitude." We thought Bettina would be perfect! Tia met several wonderful foster bunnies, but as we guessed they might, Tia and Bettina got along very well and each really enjoyed meeting the other. Congratulations to Bettina on finding her wonderful new home after so much time in the shelter and foster care, and thank you Tia for contacting HRS to adopt. We wish you many wonderful years together.

Pretty girl, Bonnie, found a wonderful new home and sweet companion boy, Shadow. Recent HRS adopter, Kelie, adopted little Shadow (on right) last fall from HRS. She was remarking to a volunteer how he was pretty shy and she hoped he might come out of his shell a little more with time. The volunteer suggested she find Shadow an outgoing, social companion. Enter Bonnie! The volunteer was fostering Bonnie and invited Kelie to meet her and bring Shadow by for a visit. The plan took shape, the bunnies met, and the rest is history! The buns are in love and Bonnie's sweet and friendly nature is rubbing off on shy boy, Shadow. Thank you, Kelie, for adopting again from HRS. And, thanks to volunteer Alison Giese for suggesting the match!

Little Daniel - now Tobey - found a wonderful new friend in older boy, Chopper. Tobey (the black & white bunny) is an older boy whose family relinquished him to the shelter and he is 9 years old! So sad.... We were so happy to have the opportunity to introduce Tobey to another older bun boy, Chopper. The boys get along great, love to hang out together in Chopper's "castle" (see right photo) and run around the family room. Their mom and dad, Tamara & Scott, are so happy to have these two little older boys to snuggle and sit on their laps to watch TV. Many thanks to Tamara & Scott for adopting from HRS and for giving sweet Tobey a loving new home. He really deserves to be pampered in his older years.

Calvin & Diego found a wonderful new home with Anke and Steffen. It's been a long road for these two sweet boys; months in the shelter, more in two Petco stores, then adopted, relinquished, and back at Petco. Sometimes bunnies have to "kiss a few frogs" before they find their "forever home." Anke and Steffen moved to San Diego last summer from Germany. They are devoted bunny parents who brought along their current bunny pair who have been a part of their family for four years. With that kind of dedication to their rabbit companions, we were so happy to have them adopt Calvin & Diegoand add them to their happy family. The boys were completely delighted with their new home, settling in quite nicely. Anke and Steffen hope to bond them with their current bunny pair; if it they don't - no matter - they are home for good!

China was a bit shy at first but then she got a little more comfortable and was willing to sit on Blanca's lap and be held. We are excited about China's great new home where she'll be an 'only child' and get all the attention. She has a great x-pen setup with lots of toys and all her favorite things. Thank you, Blanca, for giving our China a wonderful new home and for adopting from HRS.

Here's an update from Elishelah, who adopted Jonny & Chance from the Rancho Coastal Humane Society: "Here are some pictures of my three little guys. Oreo (the brown and white lop) recently lost his girl friend so we went to Rancho Coastal Humane Society to find another girl friend for him. Unfortunately, the girls there were pretty nippy and with Oreo being 8 years old, I thought he really didn't need to go through that again. So we looked at the boys. The only single boy they had at the time was a jumper who could scale our baby gates so we didn't even try him. The other boys were a bonded pair, Jonny and Chance. I've never had a trio but they all seemed to get along, so I said "why not" and adopted them.
Oreo is delighted to have new friends. As you can see from the pictures, we're making progress with the bonding, but it's been an interesting journey bonding a trio. All three of them have expressed an interest in being the dominant rabbit and, in addition to snuggling and grooming, we have had nipping, growling, kicking with the back legs, boxing with the front legs, biting and charging. Sylvia, from the House Rabbit Society, has been giving me advice over the phone which has been very helpful.
Each one of them is a little sweetheart. Chance is the most confident and loves to explore everything. Jonny is more cautious, but will always come up to be petted. They are so adorable when they are all snuggling together, but they haven't quite worked out the pecking order yet. I will be glad when I can safely leave them together unsupervised. Thank you for everything you do to help people find just the right bunny."

Little Shadow, on the left, was adopted last month from the County's north shelter in Carlsbad. Here, with his new bunny girlfriend, Nikki, Shadow is on his way home to start his new life. Now named Charles Lindbergh Smith, aka Charlie, he has settled well into his new home and come to love all the wonderful attention from his bunny mom, Pam, and his little companion, Nikki.
Pam reports, " I can't believe it's been almost a month since Charlie enriched our little lives around here. Nikki has definitely benefited from him in many ways and it shows in mimicking what he does. She has opened herself up to being more playful with things even though she has no front teeth. It seems as though each has taught something to the other and grown from it. I, too, have learned a few things from Charlie and his little (big) personality!
Thanks, Pam and Nikki, for giving Charlie a wonderful new home! We wish you many wonderful years together.

Prince and Mojita are two perfect examples for the hidden gems you can find when you take a closer look at some of the bunnies that have been in a shelter for a long time. Mojita (then named Corinne) waited at the Central and South County shelters for 8 months before she was moved into foster care for Rancho Coastal Humane Society. To people visiting the South shelter, this girl was just one of three big black female rabbits sitting in cages and nobody took the time to see her for who she really is: a very sweet, even-tempered girl who has so much love to give! Mojita's new "husbun" Prince (the bunny with the white nose) had been at Rancho Coastal Humane Society for over a year and like Mojita he was overlooked countless times. In fact he was even adopted once and returned to the shelter within a short period of time.
Prince and Mojita are now a happy couple and are about as perfect as house bunnies can get! They are 100% litterbox trained and have free run of the kitchen 24/7, with supervised playtime outside. They spend a lot of time snuggling with each other and when one is sleeping or eating the other one can often be found watching over him/her. They get along splendidly and never fight (but they sure groom each other a lot!). With these two around, nothing gets chewed that wasn't meant to be a bunny toy. Both rabbits are a joy to live with and their new family is as happy with them as they are with each other. If you are looking to adopt a new rabbit companion, please take a second look at one of the "longtimers" waiting for you in shelters and rescues. You never know what treasure you might find!

Cute little Muffin was adopted from Rancho Coastal Humane Society in September 2006. Here's an update from his happy family:
I just wanted to let you all know that Muffin is healthy, happy, and an amazing little man!! We're so in love with him, and so very happy to have found him! I never thought I could love another bunny as much as our first little "Snowflake" -- but let me tell you - he has this unbelievable personality...and is so lovey. People are always amazed when they visit us, that we have a house rabbit....and a very smart, well trained one at that! (We have him trained to come when we ring a bell.)

Handsome boy, Jackson, found a new bunny mom at a recent HRS adoption day. This boy hadn't been in foster care too long, but we already knew what a special guy he was. Luckily, his new mom Andrea figured that out right away! She met many nice bunnies at adoption day but she and Jackson made a 'connection' and he was the one to go home. Jackson will have a new dog friend in his new home, and have plenty of room to run and play. Thanks Andrea, for adoption from HRS. We wish you and Jackson many happy years together!

A happy adoption day for Noelle. Pretty girl, Noelle (right) has been hoping that the right bunny boy would come along for her. When she met Bunny at HRS' June 24th adoption day, she "knew" he was the one! Now that they are home together, it's clear these two bunnies were meant for each other. They cuddle and kiss, and do all the sweet things that bonded bunnies enjoy together. Congratulations on your new home, Noelle! Our heartfelt thanks to Amber and Bunny for choosing Noelle as their new family companion.

Tiny girl, Fifi, found a handsome new companion - little man Josh. Actually it was Josh's lucky day. Josh was staying at Bessie Bunny's Bed & Breakfast, while his mom was gone to Costa Rica for six weeks on a work study program. While he was there, his mom thought he might enjoy finding a new bunny girlfriend. Josh's last companion passed away about a year ago and he was feeling a bit lonely. So, Miss Bessie made arrangements for Josh to attend the next HRS adoption day to meet suitable young ladies. He met several, but Fifi was the girl who won his heart. He started grooming her and kept it up for the entire afternoon. It's definitely "true love" between Fifi and Josh; they were bonded in very little time and are very devoted to each other. Congratulations to Fifi and Josh, and many thanks to their mom, Janette, for adopting from HRS!

Look at little Cupid, so happy in the arms of his new bunny mom, Kaitlin. These two youngsters hit it off at a recent HRS adoption day. Once they were ready to adopt, they contacted HRS to find the perfect bunny for their family. Congratulations, Cupid, on your wonderful new home! We wish Cupid and the Jarrold family many happy years together.

Funny boy, Rodney, found his happy new home at a recent HRS adoption day. After their last bunny passed away, Jacqueline and her mom were missing the sound of little bunny feet around their home. They contacted HRS to help them find the perfect bunny match for them. They met several foster bunnies, but Rodney was the one who really "clicked" for them. You can see from this photo, that's he's very comfortable with his new bunny moms, and happy about having a nice new family. Early reports state that Rodney is settling in well and they have renamed him "Simba." We think it's the perfect name for this cute little Lion Head boy! Many thanks to Jacqueline and Jennifer for adopting from HRS.

Lovely April has found her wonderful new family! April's new family has had their eye on her since she first came to stay at the Escondido PETCO store, through the EHS adoption program. Each time they stopped in for supplies, they would visit with her. After connecting with a volunteer, they finally got the chance to meet with April, one-on-one, where April fell in love with their two young boys and mom. Lucky April is going home to live the spoiled life of an indoor bunny, in a happy family with lots of other animal friends. She is joining 2 cats, 3 dogs, 5 chickens, some tadpoles and frogs, and a turtle! Congratulations to April on her wonderful new home, and many thanks to the Loyola-Duffy family for making our favorite girl part of their family!

Pretty bun, Ruby, found her happy new home! Eric ran into little Ruby at a recent visit to the Escondido PETCO store, where Ruby is located through the Escondido Humane Society adoption program. He contacted the adoption volunteer and made an appointment to see her. It was 'love at first sight' for both Ruby and Eric, as she "melted" into his arms when he snuggled her. Lucky Ruby is going to a great indoor home with lots of room to play, great toys, and plenty of attention from her new dad. Congratulations, Ruby, on your wonderful new home! And, many thanks to Eric for adopting a rescued rabbit from Escondido Humane Society.

Lovely Bridget found a wonderful home with new bunny parents, Scott and Windee. After speaking with an HRS adoption counselor for several weeks, Scott and Windee finally got their chance to meet bunnies and it was a tough choice! They met several different rabbits and learned about their diverse personalities and how they interact with people. Bridget made it very clear, however, that she wanted to go home with Scott and Windee. She even did bunny dances for them in the pen! We think it's a great match and are grateful to Scott and Windee for giving our girl Bridget a loving home. We wish you many happy years together! Thank you, for adopting from HRS.

Megan & Raven found a wonderful new home with the Heffelfinger family, who came to meet the girls after reading about them on the HRS website. Lilly, the family's eldest daughter, has been studying the care of house rabbits for the past three years and her family recently decided that the time was right to adopt. After doing their homework online, and reading books on rabbit care, they contacted HRS to learn more about adopting. Megan & Raven were a bit shy, but quickly warmed up to the family and were comfortable with all the children. Early reports are that they are settling in well, and everyone is excited about the new addition to their family. Congratulations to Megan & Raven on your wonderful new home! Many thanks to the Heffelfinger family for adopting from HRS. We look forward to more 'happy adoption' photos of Megan & Raven.

Roommates, Daniela and Gretchen, visited Escondido Humane Society after seeing Thomas' photo on this website. They recently lost their bunny companion and missed the sound of little "bunny feet" around their apartment. And, Vinny the Pug (on the right) missed having a bunny friend. It didn't take long for them to fall in love with happy little boy, Thomas. He also liked them and didn't mind getting puppy kisses from Vinny.
Early reports are that Thomas is settling in well; he loves snuggling on the sofa and has even shared the doggie bed with Vinny, for a nap.
Congratulations to all; we wish you many happy years together. Thanks so much to Daniela & Gretchen for giving sweet Thomas a loving new home.

Ron and Crystal contacted HRS after deciding to add a rabbit companion to their home. They researched rabbit care online, and found HRS through our website. After completing the screening process, Ron & Crystal were invited to an HRS adoption day where we introduced them to several bunny choices. It was very clear, however, that little Marigold won their hearts! Her sweet nature and willingness to be held and snuggled was a big plus for this first-time bunny home. Many thanks to Ron & Crystal for adopting through HRS; we wish you and Marigold many happy years together!

Sunday, April 15, was a happy day for little bunny boy, Cinnabun. He found a new bunny mom! Samantha contacted HRS after doing extensive research on the internet, to learn about caring for a house rabbit. She had seen his photo on Pet Finder a few times, and finally decided to contact us. Little Cinnabun goes to a wonderful new home where he will be very pampered, and have a HUGE cage all his own, with plenty of toys and attention from his new family. Congratulations to Cinnabun and Samantha - we wish you many happy years together!

Miss Meadow (center of top row) recently lost her older companion, so she and her mom came to HRS to find her a new friend. She came with the intention of finding a single bunny boy. The boy she had her eye on didn't work out, but in the process she found two new buddies - Sammy & Sylvie! These two shy bunnies have a lot in common with Meadow, a former shelter rescue who also spent nearly two years in the shelter before being rescued by HRS. All three sweet bunnies are getting along well, and during their visit they shared some yummy parsley. Sammy & Sylvie are going to a wonderful new home, with HRS volunteer and bunny mom "extraordinaire," Phyllis McLaughlin. Many thanks to Phyllis and to Meadow for making it a "Happy Easter" for Sammy & Sylvie!

Experienced bunny parents, Sawdust & Neiko, recently contacted HRS to adopt a new bunny companion. They were interested in little Muffin; drawn to the sweet nature and gentle disposition of this older bunny boy. Once they met him they were sure they wanted to give him a new home, but they also became very interested in older bunny girl, Zipper. So we tried them together and they got along great! They are a wonderfully sweet, older pair. Neiko and Saw love the older bunnies and are excited about giving these two sweet buns the happy and comfortable home they deserve. Congratulations to new bunny pair, Muffin & Zipper, and many thanks to Neiko & Saw for giving these two sweet bunnies a loving new home, and for adopting from HRS.
Update 4.3.07: A note from Neiko states, "Muffin and Greta (Zipper's new name) absolutely adore each other! We were afraid they wouldn't want to hang out with us, but both bunnies are really sweet and will snuggle with us. They are so good together; thanks HRS! "

Little man Topper (left above) has found his happy home! Sweet Topper made two new friends and found a wonderful new home in the process. Former HRS adopters, Carl and Evelyn, recently took a vacation and left their two bunnies, Snoball & Shadow, in the care of an HRS volunteer. While being boarded, Carl & Evelyn asked if HRS could find their bunnies a new friend and help them become a happy threesome. So, we took on the challenge and introduced their bunnies to several available singles. Little Topper was the clear choice for Snoball & Shadow. Happily, within two days of meeting them, he was able to live with them in their pen. There is still a period of adjustment needed, but Topper & Shadow (the two males) are getting along very well, and Snoball is coming to accept him as well. Early reports from his new home say that Topper is settling in and there have been no problems so far with integrating him into the family. Congratulations, Topper, on your wonderful new home! Many thanks to Carl & Evelyn for adopting from HRS and to Snoball & Shadow for accepting little Topper into your lives.

As you can see from this photo and the one below, Joel & Lisa have added to their family! Their two single boys are now two bonded pairs! Miss Katie (grey bunny on right) was the lucky bunny in this situation, as she proves to be the best choice for Tigger, who has been looking for a girlfriend for some time. After the loss of his last companion, Tigger was pining for a new bunny friend and had already visited HRS a couple times with no luck. New foster Katie (now named Winnie) seemed a good choice, so back they came. This time - success! The bonding is going well and Katie is very tolerant of Tigger's demanding attitude. She just takes it in stride and shows him "you don't scare me!" Lucky for Tigger she's a patient girl. Best wishes for many happy years, and thanks again to Joel & Lisa for adopting from HRS.

Pretty youngster, Sugar, (left) met a handsome older boy and found a new home! Joel and Lisa came to HRS to find a bunny girl for their other boy, Tigger. In a recent visit to meet possible companions, they decided to bring along Jack too, in the event the girls didn't work out for Tigger. Well, Tigger did fine so we thought, "hmm.... we wonder if Jack would be a good companion for Sugar?" We did a quick introduction and it was an instant match! Wow!! It took them only one day to bond! We are so happy for little Sugar, who has been so fearful of new situations. She is so comfortable with her new companion, and Jack takes very good care of his little girl, cuddling and grooming her. She is completely at ease with him. Congratulations to Sugar & Jack, and many thanks to Joel & Lisa for giving our girl a loving new home.

After recently adopting Chance, the Lowe family quickly decided they wanted to find him a bunny girlfriend. So, back to HRS they came. He met a few different girls at our March 18th adoption day, but it was an instant 'hit' with pretty girl, Brandy. Reports are that they have settled in quickly and are already bonded. Wow! Brandy loves her new home and thinks all the attention is great. Chance is proud of his new lady friend and they spend a lot of time snuggling when not being spoiled by their great new family. Congratulations Brandy and Chance; and, thanks again to the Lowe family for adopting from HRS!

Bristol & Sugar have found their happy new home! Vanessa, who lost her bun of 8 years a few months ago, recently contacted HRS to find a new rabbit companion. She loves Dutch bunnies and saw Bristol and Sugars' photos on the web. We arranged a meeting and it was an instant match! Vanessa sent us this "happy adoption" photo and says, "They are so cute and they seem to be adjusting really fast. I love them!" We bet it's mutual. Thanks, Vanessa, for adopting from HRS. We wish you and the buns many happy years together.

Madmartegan (left) found a happy new home, and helped to make the lovely Sally a very happy girl. Sally's mom had been trying to find her a sweet boy companion and was not having a lot of luck. Miss Sally had a hard life previously and was not sure whom she could trust. However, when she came to our March 18th adoption day she met little "Martegan" and felt very comfortable with him. The bonding has been going well and they are already a couple! Congratulations to Martegan and Sally, and thanks to Kathy for adopting from HRS.
Update: 3/26/07: Here's a cute photo of Madmartegan and his girl, Sally. Miss Sally seems very comfortable with her new boyfriend!

Escondido Humane Society bunny, Jeremy, was the first PETCO adoption for the shelter. Judi Pfeiffer, on the left, poses with store manager, Mary Ann (at the Poway PETCO), and Jeremy. Judi's family came down twice to meet him and his wonderful personality and silly antics got the "thumbs up" from the entire crew! He has been a PETCO favorite, with his silly bunny dances and jumping in and out of the Cottontail Cottage during play times. He is going to be one spoiled bunny, with his new indoor home, lots of toys, and of course his own Cottage to play in at home. Congratulations, Jeremy, and many thanks to the Pfeiffer family for adopting a rescued rabbit.

Pretty Maribelle found a loving new home with Erica & Scott Cline, at our most recent HRS adoption day. Erica had adopted from HRS in the past and when she and Scott moved into their new apartment and wanted an animal companion, they contacted San Diego HRS to help them find the perfect rabbit for them. Since they live in Irvine, they drove down to San Diego for the adoption day and met several rabbits we suggested for them, based on their rabbit experience, home environment, and lifestyle. Of all the bunnies, Maribelle was the best fit. And, she really liked Erica & Scott, making it a perfect fit all around! As you can see form the photo, Maribelle is in experienced hands and really looking forward to her new home. Many thanks to Erica and Scott for coming back to HRS. We wish you and Maribelle many wonderful years together!

What a great day for Miss Anya. She found her new home! Tammie & Jeff recently contacted HRS to help them find a new bunny companion. They sadly lost a bunny last year, and were ready to fill their home with the sound of soft bunny feet. After talking with an adoption counselor, they came to our adoption day to meet rabbits chosen for them. It was a tough choice; two bunny girls were vying for their attention! Lucky for Anya, she convinced both Jeff and Tammie that she was the right bunny for them. Congratulations, Anya, on your wonderful new home! And, many thanks to Tammie & Jeff for adopting from HRS and giving our lovely bunny girl a happy new home.

The Carlos family returned to HRS after the sad loss of their bunny girl. They had seen Coconut (in the middle) on our adoption website and thought he would be a good companion for their other two bunny boys. Luckily the bunnies all thought it was a good idea, as they immediately got along. Have you ever seen anything cuter than these three!? Thanks again to the Carlos' for adopting from HRS and giving a loving home to a needy rabbit. Congratulations, Coconut, on your wonderful new home!

Little Galinda (left) found a happy new home and a bunny boy companion, at our Feb 4th HRS adoption day. Little boy, Luna, came looking for a new companion after his last bunny girl passed away. He met a lot of pretty girls but seemed to like Galinda the best. The bonding has been slow, but it's going well now and Galinda really loves her new family, delighting them with pretty bunny dances and grooming them when they snuggle her. Congratulations on your new home, Galinda; we wish you and your family many happy years together! And, thanks again to the Soutowood family for adopting from HRS.

Melissa began thinking about getting a rabbit companion last summer. She started researching online about rabbit care, read several books, and studied everything she could find. Finally, in her new "pet friendly" apartment and ready for a new friend, Melissa contacted HRS. An adoption counselor learned more about Melissa; her lifestyle, her rabbit experience, and her preferences for personality, size, etc. and helped to guide Melissa in making the best choices for her new rabbit companion. Next step - come to the HRS adoption day and meet foster bunnies who are the best match for her! After stroking, cuddling, and interacting with several wonderful bunnies, it was Quinn who made it very clear that she was to be his new mom. It was "love at first sight," as often is the case, when both bunny and human make that magical connection and a bonding is born. Quinn climbed into Melissa's lap, begging her to pet him and wanting to stay with her when it came another bunny's turn to meet her. Quiet and shy when in his pen, he came to life when in her presence. It was clear - Quinn was the bunny for her! As you can see from the photo above, both bunny and human are happy with their choice. Congratulations on your new home, Quinn; we wish you and Melissa many wonderful years together!

Handsome New Zealand boy, Big Ben, found an awesome new home with HRS volunteer, Claudia LaRue, and her bunny girl, Sable. Miss Sable's older companion passed away and she came to meet some bunny boys, hoping to take home the "perfect bunny man." Well, it's safe to say that Miss Sable is a bit picky and, not more than a little bossy, too! But, Big Ben took her bossiness in stride and showed her how much he thought she was very special. This did impress her some, so she agreed, "okay mom, let's take him home for a try." Their bonding is going slowly, but progress is being made. Sable is trying not to be too bossy, and Ben is trying to put up with her attitude. Somewhere along the way they'll settle down and become like newlyweds; madly in love! Claudia says, "we just love Ben and couldn't ever give him up; he's staying!" Congratulations to Ben & Sable, and thanks, Claudia for giving this sweet boy a loving new home.

Former HRS foster bunny, Oscar, and his parents, Ann Marie and Darin, came to a recent adoption day to find Oscar a new girlfriend. Sadly, his last companion had passed away and he was feeling lonely. Where else to go to find a new girl, but HRS?! So, he came out a-courting, to meet several female candidates, and Miss Celia turned out to be the one who took his "attitude" in stride. Truth is, Oscar is one heck of a spoiled boy bunny, and he made it very clear that he didn't think ANY of the girls he met were good enough for him! Dear Celia, however, was patient as a saint, and took his temper in stride, until he had the good sense to settle down and "pay attention!." Luckily for Celia, she's also a sweet cuddly bunny and Oscar's mom and dad fell absolutely in love with her! Get a clue, Oscar buddy, she's coming home with us! The bonding is going well, if slowly, but Darin & Ann Marie are experienced and in no hurry. They know that Celia is the right girl for Oscar, even if he hasn't quite figured it out yet. Congratulations, Celia, on your wonderful new home! And, many thanks to Ann Marie & Darin for coming back to HRS when it came time to add another bunny companion to their family.

Many thanks to the Lowe's for adopting from HRS.

Two happy bunnies, Scamp and Naomi went to their new home with the Carlos family, at our Jan 21st adoption day. First was Naomi, on the right. This pretty girl was adopted to be a companion to Splash (far left). Splash came to the HRS adoption day to meet a new girlfriend and after meeting several lovely ladies, he decided that Miss Naomi was his favorite. HOWEVER...... while mom was attending to the situation with Splash and Naomi, unbeknownst to her, her daughters were scheming in the background over little Scamp (middle). This handsome youngster had caught their eye and they couldn't take their hands off him! Little Scamp, being the way he just is, was loving all the attention and had "melted" into the girls' arms. Mom had a dilemma. Hmmm... what to do? There was some talk of putting the two boy bunnies together, but Splash put an end to that thought, as he much preferred pretty girl Naomi. So, mom did the next best thing - she adopted Scamp to join the family and get his own dose of loving from his new human friends. After some coaching from HRS adoption counselors, we think the Carlos' have it down and are all set to integrate both bunnies into their home. They have plenty of room - and certainly plenty of love - to invite both bunnies to a wonderful new home. Congratulations to bunnies Scamp and Naomi, and many thanks to the Carlos family for adopting from HRS.

After waiting a long time in foster care, Pamela went home with the Flores' where a new two story cage and exercise pen await her! The Flores came to meet Pamela and decided her gentle, sweet personality was the right choice for them. Pamela will join them in their home and have a cat friend to play with too. Thank you to Stephan and Denni for contacting HRS, for caring enough about rabbits to learn all you could in advance, and for adopting a special bunny girl from us. Enjoy your special new friend!

Crazy guy, Smokey, (on right) found a wonderful new home at a recent HRS adoption day. There, he met little Daniela Fu Fu, the new love of his life! Smokey's new parents, Andrea and Mike, contacted HRS when they began looking for a companion for their little bunny girl, Daniela. They attended HRS' December Holiday Party and met several foster bunnies there, some of whom were potential matches for their girl. At the adoption day, Miss Daniela met several bunny boys and was pretty bossy to them all. But, smart guy, Smokey, just took it all in stride and showed her he could take her attitude. He just snuggled in and showed her he could hang in their for the long haul. Since moving to his new home, he and Daniela have been getting to know each other and it's going well. Daniela was pretty bossy, but she's starting to mellow out and seek out her new bunny love for companionship and snuggling. Andrea and Mike are thrilled with their happy pair of bunnies, and are proud to call themselves Smokey's new "mom and dad." Congratulations to Smokey on your wonderful new home, and many thanks to Mike and Andrea for adopting from HRS!

Chadwick & Honey have found a wonderful new home with the Jimenez family of Lakewood. After the family spent several weeks researching rabbits as pets; studying articles on their housing, diet, and care needs, Mrs. Jimenez contacted HRS to get our help in finding the perfect rabbits for them. They drove all the way down to San Diego to meet several wonderful bunnies who were good choices for their family. It was a tough decision, but little Chadwick helped them out by charming them with his silly antics and laid-back attitude. Sweet Honey was her usual loving self, allowing the boys to pet and cuddle her. They were the perfect pair for this new bunny family. The bunnies are settling in nicely and their new family is enjoying getting to know them. Many thanks to the Jimenez family for adopting from HRS, and for giving Chadwick and Honey a loving new home!

Happy boy, Chaz (on left) went home with his new family and bunny companion, Angel, at a recent HRS adoption day. Once home, it wasn't long before Chaz and Angel figured out that whole "bonding" concept, and were soon cuddling and grooming each other. Chaz is loving all the attention from his new family, and little Angel is thrilled to have her new companion. Many thanks to the Morrill family for once again adopting from HRS.

Pretty girl, Fiona (bunny on right) has found a wonderful new home and a loving companion in Joseph. Wendy and Michael recently contacted HRS looking for a companion for their older boy, Joseph. Their boy had recently lost him companion and was desperately missing the closeness and companionship of a bunny friend. HRS had a few girls in mind for Joseph, so he and his parents drove down from Irvine on a recent Saturday. After meeting three different bunny girls, it was clear that Fiona was the one. So, off to Irvine she headed, in the company of her new bunny boyfriend. Many thanks to Wendy and Michael for coming all the way to San Diego to adopt a friend for Joseph. Congratulations to Fiona on her new home, we wish her many healthy and happy years with her new companion.
A recent update from Fiona's new family states, "We had a lot of kissing on both sides. Fiona spent such a long time grooming Joseph and he had just this look of bliss on his face - this is what he has been waiting for! "

Pretty girl, Victoria, has found her happy new home! Handsome boy, Stanley, (right) recently visited an HRS adoption day to find himself a new girlfriend. He had lost his last companion and was feeling pretty lonely, so his mom contacted HRS to set up a date for Stanley to meet some eligible bunny girls. Lucky for Stanley, Miss Victoria was impressed with him right off the bat, and they made a good match! Reports from their new home state that they are happily bonded and Stanley is acting like a new bunny man! See what love can do? Many thanks to the Ziegeler family for giving our sweet Victoria a loving new home.

Happy boy, Gilbert, found his new lady love in Miss Zha Zha (in the middle) at a recent adoption day. His mom had tried him with several girls in the past but none were very nice to him and he was very sad about that. Gilbert longed for a little girl to love. Someone "sweet." Luckily, Gilbert's mom met little ZhaZha at another event and thought, "she might be perfect for my boy!" Like a very good mom, she made arrangements for the two bunny kids to meet at the next adoption day. Ah, bliss...... That's what Gilbert feels now. He's got a pretty little girl who loves him; he can snuggle up to her soft fur and she snuggles back. What more can a bunny boy ask for? Well, "how about another carrot, mom?" Congratulations to happy bunnies, Gilbert & Zha Zha, and many thanks to Patricia for giving little Zha Zha a loving new home.

Our dear boy, Johnny Angel, has found his new lady love and the perfect new home as well! Johnny, the bun on the top right, was in foster care a long time, just waiting for the "right" home. Lucky for all of us, the Oliver family came to HRS to find a companion for their bunny girl, Bailey. These two bunnies hit it off right away, and it's been "true love," ever since! Congratulations to Johnny on finding his "forever" home, and our gratitude to the Oliver family for giving him a loving home.
Update, 12/1/06: Reports are that Johnny and Bailey are doing very well, and little Johnny just "dances with joy," whenever he's outside his pen for play time. Rex Oliver is a happy dad, having found a bunny who loves to be held and will enjoy some TV time with him. We think his new home is a perfect match!

Darling boys, Robbie and Ashe, went home together from a recent HRS adoption day. Happy adopters, Lisa and Robert, loved both bunnies and couldn't make up their mind, so asked if they could try them together and perhaps adopt both. Who'd have thought it? We never thought of putting them together, but it was worth a try.... Well, Lisa must have had a good feel for these boys because they did very well together. So, off they went to their new home and a happy life as "brothers." Congratulations to Robbie and Ashe, and many thanks to Lisa and Robert for giving our two sweet boys a loving home.
Update, 12/1/06: Reports are that the boys are getting along well and really settling into their new home. Ashe is the bossy one with Robbie trailing behind. They love their new family, including their new children friends, and getting spoiled by mom, Lisa. The food is great, the toys are fun, and they get lots of happy run time. Life is good!

Sweet, little boy, Nathaniel (right), was adopted as a companion to cute girl, Zoë, at a recent HRS adoption day. Nathaniel is the 'quiet man' to her "rowdy gal" but they are getting along quite well. Getting his own new home has helped Nathaniel to blossom, and to feel more confident. He's holding his own with Miss Zoë and they are becoming fast friends. His new family is so in love with him - we're certain he's found his "forever" home. Congratulations to little Nathaniel, and many thanks to the Accardy family for adopting from HRS.

Bunny kids, Brooks & Wynne, stole the hearts of Wendy and Andy, at a recent HRS adoption day. Their gentle nature was just what Wendy was hoping for in her new bunny companions. These lucky kids are headed to a new home where they will be spoiled, and given lots and lots of run time! Congratulations to Brooks & Wynne on their new home, and many thanks to Andy & Wendy for contacting HRS when it came time to adopt.
Happy Adoption Update, 12/1/06: "We just wanted to let you know that Brooks and Wynne are working out perfectly. They are very well behaved, very tidy, and surprisingly it hasn't taken very long for them to warm up to us. We've opened up most of the apartment for them and they've been exploring and watching tv with us. Brooks and Wynne are getting some new names! Brooks flops around like a pancake and has earned the nickname "Pancake", though we switch between Brooks and Pancake. Wynne got her name morphed a bit and it's now Hen Wyn, a piggie character from a Welsh children's story. Sometimes she's just Wyn as well."

Handsome boy, Max, fell in love on November 15th. See him snuggled here, with his new mom and dad? Max is in heaven! Luckily for him, Lauren & John contacted HRS recently to adopt a new bunny companion. They are an experienced bunny home and had lost their previous rabbit companion several months ago. Realizing they were ready to fill that space in their hearts, they visited the HRS website and saw a photo of Max. A visit to HRS and the deal was sealed! Max enjoyed interacting with his prospective parents and was especially pleased to get pets from John. He also showed them how cute he is, by stealing a willow ball and running off to munch it with delight. His silly capers and sweet personality were exactly what Lauren and John were hoping for. We think this match is perfect for all concerned! Congratulations to Max on his new home, and many thanks to Lauren & John for adopting from HRS.

Sweet boy, Oreo, found his perfect home with HRS volunteer, Alison Giese. Alison is very experienced with bunnies like Oreo, who have no front teeth and need special care. She has several other "front toothless' bunnies in her home. Oreo, now named "Domino," is a little boy who adores attention and as you can see here, he'll get plenty of affection from Alison. Thanks, Alison, for giving little boy Oreo a loving - and experienced - new home.

November 5th was a momentous day for sweet HRS foster girl, Honey Bunny. After four long years in foster care, she finally has found her forever home! Experienced bunny parents, Shelly and Ben, often visited the HRS website to browse photos of available foster rabbits. Even though they have a happily bonded bunny pair, they couldn't help but think about all the other bunnies who need good homes. And, they kept stopping at the photo of one particular rabbit. Honey Bunny. They kept thinking about how long she had been in foster care, and about how her description said she "needs someone to dote upon her," and how she had lost an eye to an illness and was considered hard to adopt. They kept thinking about Honey Bunny and couldn't get her out of their minds. So, one day, they contacted HRS just to ask, "What about Honey Bunny? Could we be a good home for her?" HRS invited Shelly and Ben to meet Honey and the rest is history. It was love at first sight - on both sides. Shelly and Ben marveled at how sweet Honey is, and she was content to snuggle in their arms. After learning all they could about her, about her needs and how best to fit her in their home, Honey Bunny traveled to her new home that day and to a life of luxury in a bunny's world. Her own room, all new toys, a new Cottontail Cottage and willow balls and stuffy companions. Long snuggle sessions on the sofa with her new mom and dad. Life is good, and Honey has her "forever home."

Former HRS foster bunny, Stevie (silver boy) lives in a wonderful, happy home. However, his family is a very busy one and they felt that Stevie would benefit from the company of a bunny friend, while they are out of the house with their various activities. Stevie's mom, Janet, contacted HRS asking for our help in finding him a companion. After meeting several girls, and a few boys, Stevie was finally introduced to little Macy. This pretty girl was affectionate toward Stevie and didn't mind his rowdy nature. She just took it all in stride, which is exactly what Stevie needed. The bonding has gone well, and now Stevie and Macy are a happy pair! This photo shows Stevie and Macy at home and with the family's children. Congratulations, Macy, on your happy new home! Many thanks to the Gunning family for adopting another HRS foster bunny in need.
