Bonded Bunny Pairs

Tobey with Oskar
Why I love bonded bunny pairs

In September 2009, Oskar found his way into our home as a foster bunny. When Oskar was a baby bunny, he was purchased as meal for a family snake. When the snake didn't make a meal out of Oskar, the family put Oskar in a cat carrier, and lived on their back porch for over a year.

I knew Oskar was special right away. Yes, he was dirty and too thin, but I have a soft spot for big bunnies with big heads....
I had adopted Tobey from San Diego HRS in 2008. He had lost his companion six months before and was lonely. One morning, Tobey wandered over and laid down next to Oskar's pen. A few minutes later, he began grooming Oskar through the bars. It was literally "love at first sight" and the boys are now inseparable.

Tobey is now 12 years old. He is blind (due to cataracts) and his bones are creaky. I know that Oskar keeps him going. I can't imagine either one of these bunnies living alone, so I always try to encourage adopters to consider a pair of bunnies, instead of just one. Witnessing their bond, the depth of their love and affection, and friendship is a great joy. Seeing them together erases all of the stress of a bad day.

As my friend Eliz says, "there is just nothing quite like a bonded pair of bunnies...it's a very strong connection and quite amazing."   ~ Tamara Swanson

Rocket and Miss Scarlet
English Spot (M) and New Zealand White (F)
Neutered and Spayed
Young Adults

Miss Scarlet and Rocket are in love and inseparable! Rocket is a typical young bunny boy; he's clumsy and full of energy, while Miss Scarlet is a classy, proper lady who is very neat, sweet, and gentle. They love to sprawl out side-by-side while enjoying a sunny afternoon nap on the living room rug. They also love to run circles around each other in an oversized outdoor play area (under supervision, of course). Always entertaining, and fun to be around, this bonded pair would be a great fit for a first-time bunny caretaker. For more information, contact nancy@luckybunnies.org

Kinsey & Frisbee
Dwarf Bunnies
Approximately 1 year old
Spayed/Neutered

Kinsey was dumped at a high-kill shelter a few months ago. We saved her life, literally, at the last minute. Frisbee was found abandoned in Lake Elsinore; he could barely walk due to an injured front leg, which had to be amputated (he does VERY well without the leg and is a "tripod" bunny). We introduced these two bunnies because they both seemed sad and lonely. It was "love at first sight" and they are now inseparable and madly in love. They deserve a second chance in a loving home - could it be YOU? We hope so. Contact us for more information.

Persie and Yuki  (Bonded pair)
White Rex (F) and Himalayan Mix (M)
Spayed and Neutered
Young Adults

Persie is a white Rex who was abandoned at a local high school. This pair needs to be in a bunny-experienced home, because Persie was born blind in one eye, and needs to have a regular routine. She does very well as long as her pen is always arranged in the same manner.  Yuki was surrendered by a family who decided they'd rather get a dog.  He was confused and lonely when he came to us, but has blossomed in foster care and is now a very sweet, gentle and attentive companion for Persie.  He regularly grooms her and pays extra special attention to her blind eye.  They were instantly smitten and truly love each other.  Their favorite activity is outdoor playtime in a large secure pen. For more information, contact nancy@luckybunnies.org

Cooper (M) and Coco (F)
Dwarf Mix (both)
Neutered and Spayed
Male/Female bonded pair

These buns have been in foster care for too long (almost 2 years), and really need a family that will love and cherish them. Cooper was abandoned in a Murrieta parking lot about 2 years ago, and Coco was taken in by LBRR with her mom and 16 other siblings (along with Rini and Catrina, below). C&C are a wonderful couple that are madly in love and look out for each other. Everyone enjoys watching Cooper do the "Bundy 500" when he's outside playing - including Coco. She is truly his #1 Fan. Please give these buns the second chance they deserve. Contact us for more information.

Harper (F) and Scout (M)
Spayed/Neutered, Adults
Dwarf Mix (both)

Double vision! This brother-sister, bonded pair will love you and enjoy getting your time and attention. Harper (right) can't decide if she's a lop-eared bunny or not....when she is very relaxed, her ears flop; at other times, they stand up. She and her brother Scout (left) will warm your heart. They love to play, dance, and run. But they enjoy snuggles and pets, too. Contact info@luckybunnies.org for more information.
Rini and Catrina
Spayed Females
Lop mix and standard mix
Adults

Rini and Catrina are sisters with an extremely deep bond, as you can tell from the photos above. The girls can be a little shy, but they are also very sweet and gentle. They live in an extra large exercise pen, and go outside for supervised play time each day. They both thrive on a regular "routine" so it would be best if their new home can offer that to these lovely sisters.

Dasher and Wendy
Bonded pair, Spay/Neutered Adults
Dutch/Mini-Rex mixes

Wendy and Dasher were left behind when a petting zoo in Wildomar shut down and left them behind. These gentle bunnies were left alone to fend for themselves. Luckily, they have been in a very kind and loving foster home, and have learned to trust again. They zoom around during playtime, love to eat their fresh veggies, and are exceptionally neat. Contact

Ginger (F) and Cheerio  (M)
Spayed and Neutered
Hotot Mix and Mini-Rex
Adults

Ginger and Cheerio are a spunky, energetic pair. They love to play, run, binky, and enjoy snuggle time with their foster family. Because Cheerio came from a sad situation (his previous family moved away and left Cheerio in a chicken coop without food or water), he needs to be in a home where his family will be a little more patient and understanding of his behavior quirks. Ginger is a doll and she worships Cheerio.
